Postojna Caves, Slovenia
Available from: Lake Bled, Lake Bohinj and Kranjska Gora
One of the jewels of Slovenia, Postojna Cave is the second largest cave system in the world. There are over 20 kilometres of passages, galleries and chambers. The caves have welcomed over 35 million visitors since they opened to the public over 180 years ago.
We think all visitors to Slovenia should go to Postojna. From the illuminated rock formations to the eyeless fish hidden in the deep it is a place of truly fascinating natural wonders. Inghams offers excursions from all our Slovenian resorts.
Krimml Waterfalls, Austria
Available from: Mayrhofen (Bookable Locally)
Europe’s highest waterfall, Krimml is a natural wonder. Located amidst the stunning peaks of the Hohe Tauern National Park you will be treated to stunning views as you drive down the valley to Krimml.
During the summer you can follow a winding footpath up to the top of the falls for fantastic photo opportunities. The spectacular rainbows that emerge from the spray are an unforgettable sight.
Jungfraujoch, Switzerland
Available from: Grindelwald, Interlaken, Wengen and Mürren
Take a journey to the Jungfrau and experience the breath-taking Jungfraujoch.
At 3454m the Jungfraujoch train station is Europe’s highest and the views from the top are simply breath-taking. The railway journey up the mountain takes you past magical mountain views and through dramatic tunnels carved into the mountain. It’s unforgettable.
Of course, it’s pretty chilly at the peak so make sure to wrap up warm! At this altitude, the mountain is always covered in snow. But what this once in a lifetime destination lacks it warmth it makes up for in majestic views.
James Bond Museum, Switzerland
Available from: Grindelwald, Interlaken, Wengen and Mürren
If you are a fan of Britain’s most popular MI6 agent then you’ll love this excursion. The Piz Gloria at the top of the Schilthorn Mountain near Mürren was the secret headquarters of the infamous baddie Blofeld in the film ‘On Her Majesty’s Secret Service’.
Much of the film was shot in and around the local area, including the spectacular skiing and luge scenes. Today the Piz Gloria is a rotating restaurant and a museum to everyone’s favourite spy. You can learn why George Lazenby only did one James Bond film, how the Luge scenes were filmed and how many locals were involved in assisting the film.
