You'll be welcomed into Hotel San Giovanni with open arms. This small and friendly family-run hotel has an ideal location 20 metres away from the ski lift. It'll connect you to the Carosello gondola and you can ski almost all the way back to the hotel. The centre of Livigno is around two kilometres, however you can just hop on the free resort bus which takes you to the centre and the lifts for the Mottolino side of the mountain.

Cosy hotel

With its traditional alpine furnishings, the hotel radiates a cosy and friendly atmosphere. You'll receive a warm welcome from the team, be sure to ask them for their recommendations on the best place to ski or stop for a bite to eat.  When you return from a day on the slopes, the hotel and lounge is a great spot to catch up with friends and family with a drink or two. The bar's open to the public so there is a good après atmosphere. If you're a little peckish, treat yourself to a snack from the hotel's pizzeria.

Bed and breakfast

The San Giovanni is offered on a bed and breakfast basis, so you can head into Livigno centre and enjoy dining in some of the tasty local restaurants. The hotel has its own restaurant which we recommend heading to during your stay - serving tasty classic Italian dishes and typical regional dishes from the Valtellina, and pizzas cooked in a wood-fired oven, it's an excellent choice. The wine cellar has a great selection of regional wines from Italy, so there's bound to be a wine which pairs nicely with your meal.

Fast becoming one of the most exciting ski resorts in the Alps, Livigno is making a big name for itself as now confirmed as one of the venues for the 2026 Olympics and it’s easy to see why. Not far from the Swiss border, this snow sure resort has an extensive, modern ski area whilst retaining the traditional character of its original three villages.

The town itself sits in the valley where either side of you, the mountains rise up creating two separate ski areas, all linked by the efficient and free local buses circulating the resort. The unique layout means there are dedicated areas and lifts for beginners straight from resort level, while more experienced skiers and boarders can head to the top and enjoy a huge range of on and off-piste in the area as well as fun parks, boarder cross tracks and for those looking for some serious fun, head to the Mottolino snowpark which has hosted many international freestyle competitions.

Rumour has it the ‘Bombardino’ was created in Livigno, so when people ask us is the resort good for après, it most certainly is. With around 150 bars to choose from, it is possibly the best we have experienced in Italy but why not judge it for yourself and make this your next ski destination.
