It's located high above the Lauterbrunnen Valley on a dramatic terrace, on the other side of the valley from Wengen. The idyllic traffic-free village is only accessible by cable car and is the ideal retreat from the busier resorts. James Bond fans might recognise the ski area as it featured in the film 'On Her Majestys Secret Service'.

The resort has its own ‘Mürren-Schilthorn’ ski area with around 54 kilometres of slopes, it's the highest ski area in the Bernese Oberland. While Mürren is ideal for more experienced skiers and snowboarders due to its challenging runs, slopes are available for all skill levels. Beginners can take the funicular up to Allmendhubel, where you'll find a variety of nursery slopes. For more experienced skiers, the Schiltgrat offers a great selection of runs for all levels. Advanced skiers and snowboarders will love the thrill of Slope 9 Direttissima, the steepest slope in the Jungfrau! Non-skiers can take advantage of the excellent winter walking and sledging with the non-skiers’ lift pass. If you are looking for somewhere to meet for lunch at the Panoramic Restaurant Allmendhubel is a great choice - the non skiers can get the funicular up, while the skiers and boarders can ski up to the restaurant.

Development on the brand new Schilthorn cable car had taken place over the 2024/25 winter season; the brand new lift takes you up to the summit in less than 20 minutes and now holds the title of the world's steepest cable car with a gradient of 159.4%. The spectacular lift provides a direct link between the valley station in Stechelberg and the village of Mürren, taking you up to the summit of the Schilthorn via Birg.
