With so much to do in Bergen, you'll have activities on demand
What a way to start a trip, a stay in the beautiful city of Bergen. We love how the old town with its multi-coloured houses sits on the edge of the water, the scenery is just dreamy. During the day you might want to explore the cultural and historical sights of the old town; there are plenty of museums and galleries to enjoy. Or, if you’re looking to get your heartrate going then why not take on one of the local walking trails, there are seven mountains surrounding the city so you’re not short on choice. For those after a more relaxed pace of life, you can purchase tickets to hop on the city's funicular or cable car; the views from up here are amazing. If you’re wanting to get out of the city centre then there are numerous day trips on offer, or, make use of the local trains, buses and boats.

Spend a few days in Flam or Aurland
Journey by ferry from Bergen and head for Flam or Aurland, which sit within the same area on the Aurlandsfjord; one of the branches of the Sognefjord. The journey takes around five and a half hours but the scenery as you float down the Sognefjord is spectacular. The villages of Flam and Aurland are only around 20 minutes apart by bus, but they both have something slightly unique to offer, so it’s up to you which village you choose to stay in. Flam has the famous Flam railway offering fantastic scenery and is a popular stopping point for many tourists visiting this area. Aurland on the other hand is slightly quieter and less well connected, but again, has those beautiful fjord views. The area has several walking trails to wander along, or head out on day trips to explore local valleys, vistas and fjords.
