The traditional Hotel Alpenaussicht is run by the Ribis family and is a firm favourite with Tyrolean locals for its impressive views of Obergurgl and authentic food.

Mountain views

Built into the hillside with incredible views over the Ötz valley, it’s no wonder the Hotel Alpenaussicht’s name translates to ‘Alp View’ in English.

The quirky layout of the hotel makes the most of its surroundings with spacious rooms that look out onto the mountains. All rooms have a balcony or terrace, so early risers heading for the first ski lifts can enjoy the sunrise before hitting the slopes.

Location

You'll be based just 400 metres from the village centre of Obergurgl and a short walk to the Wiesenlift drag lift and Festkoglbahn gondola.

Food & drink

The Alpenaussicht prides itself on providing locally-sourced and authentic food. There is nothing better to fuel a day on the slopes than a breakfast buffet of regional specialities and freshly baked bread.

We love the fresh water available from the hotel’s very own rock spring or, when you’re looking for something a little stronger, head to the cocktail bar for a relaxing drink on the terrace.

As a ski specialist tour operator we carefully select the very best accommodation in our resorts and package them with flights and transfers, so that you can make the most of your holiday. We have an exclusive agreement with Hotel Alpenaussicht the only UK tour operator to package and sell holidays here - all the more reason to book with Inghams today!

Skiing and snowboarding in Obergurgl

If you’re looking for guaranteed snow, queue-free modern lifts and immaculate slope grooming then Obergurgl is the place for you. Known as the ‘diamond of the alps’, the majority of our hotels are 4 star and above. As a family resort, many of the hotels offer kids activities and are close to the ski school and lifts.

You’ll have quiet scenic pistes suited to all levels of skiing. There is a great ski school, learning area and child friendly snow park. At a height of 1,927 metres the views in Obergurgl are spectacular.

Where to stay in Obergurgl

We have excellent long standing relationships with all of our hotels in Obergurgl so you can rest assured that you will be taken great care of during your stay. The level of service and facilities here are some of the best in Austria, and many hotels have ski-in, ski-out locations.

The best views of the resort can be enjoyed from the Top Mountain Star 360° bar or the Hohe Mut Alm – where you’ll find the spot known as Tirol’s most beautiful mountain ridge. We recommend a winter hike around the stone pine forest – which became a UNESCO natural treasure in 1963. There is a weekly ski-show, night skiing and tobogganing or why not holiday in style with a helicopter ride or champagne gondola lunch.

Bars and restaurants in Obergurgl

With a community of 400 locals working in the traditional pubs, parasol covered bars and rustic mountain huts –expect lederhosen’s, large beer steins and service with a smile. Obergurgl is a small resort meaning you’re never too far from friends or family on the slopes.

No trip to Obergurgl would be complete without a trip to the famous après Nederhütte, located half way up the mountain. Be sure to try the sticky ribs, they’re a specialty that shouldn’t be missed. Once you’ve had a bite to eat. It’s time to party – the house band and staff will be the first to demand you get up on the benches for a good old knees up.

Every Tuesday we offer a wine tasting with one of Austria's top sommelier, Maximilian Steiner. Taste some of Austria's best wines in the beautiful cellar at the Austria Gourmet & Wine Hotel, open to both residence and none residence. You can pre-book or speak to our team in resort to book.
