The area:
The western side of Norway is a very family originated part of the country, ideal for a family skiing trip.
They enjoy lots of local traditions throughout the year, but during the winter months and especially the lead up to Christmas, family baking is a much loved weekend hobby. All the extended family will join together to make sweet treats for the festive period. Ideal for tourists as you will often find some of these yummy sweet treats in the resorts Christmas markets.
The skiing:
Voss and Myrkdalen are the larger of the Norway resorts and offer the most out of the spaces here, with off-piste and night-skiing options.
If you are travelling as a family with younger children, then Myrkdalen is ideal - with a dedicated children's area and children's park to cater for them, plus an excellent ski-school with English speaking instructors.
Voss however is perfect for those who are a bit more adventurous on the slopes, showcasing a giant slalom course and a SuperG course. Voss also caters for those with a passion for crosscountry, showcasing 18km of trails through the stunning scenery that surrounds this resort.
The resorts:
The resorts of Voss and Myrkdalen offer everything you would expect from lively Norwegian towns - with plenty of cafes and restaurants to visit, plus some great apres-ski bars to celebrate your ski wins.
The resort of Voss is only 100km from the city of Bergen, great for a day out - it's worth travelling up the unique Ulriken cable car for an amazing view of the city and port.
Myrkdalen resort is more closely knit so you will find a lot of ski-in ski-out accommodation here and all the local amenities just a stones throw away.

The area:
The area of Northern Norway is quite influenced by Denmark. Northern Norway is a stunning place to visit during the ski season - within the arctic circle, you will see large glistening frozen lakes and the glow of the famous Northern Lights.
Make the most of your stay in Norway and spend some time in the many saunas, a favourite past-time of the Nordic population. Most accommodation and all spas will have saunas on offer, the ideal way to relax after spending the day on the slopes. A great local favourite breakfast or sweet to try are the variety of sweet bread buns (known as School Bread).
The skiing:
Though Narvik is a smaller resort, it is a more rounded resort - offering a balance of slopes for every level of skiing. From great practice areas to cruisy blues, beginners will feel comfortable here to build up their skills.
For the advanced skiers among you, there are some great challenging trails. Scandinavia's biggest vertical drops, a thrilling diamond-black run and some adventurous off-piste options can all be found.

The resort of Narvik is located around one of Norway's most extensive and important harbours of the north, offering a great outlook on the arctic circle location.
The Norwegians consider the resort of Narvik their home for winter sports so you will often see locals at this resort for the weekends. Rich in history and nature, this resort offers more than your standard ski escape and a week here will be thoroughly enjoyed.
