The interconnected Sporthotel & Hotel Strass are two of the most popular hotels in Mayrhofen. Benefitting from an unbeatable location next to the main Penkenbahn lift in the heart of Mayrhofen's bustling centre.

Lively après

The hotel has a selection of lively in-house bars to choose from, including the Ice Bar, lounge with front of house terrace, and the adjacent Arena nightclub.

The shared facilities are excellent and include three indoor pools, a multi-floor spa centre, sizeable games room with pool and table tennis tables and children’s playroom.

All bedrooms are bright and spacious with homely pine furnishings.

Spa area

The 2000m² spa area features multiple types of sauna, an infrared cabin, steam room, inhalation grotto, multiple whirlpools, Kneipp pool, brine bath and various beauty and massage treatments. After a day on the slopes unwind in the fully-kitted out gym overlooking the town.

Dining options

New for winter 2025 the Hotel Strass is available on bed & breakfast and half board basis. On half board upgrade you can look forward to a three course dinner with a mixture of traditional Austrian and international cuisine.

On bed & breakfast basis you are located right in the centre of Mayrhofen so you have plenty of restaurants right on your doorstep. The Hotel Strass has two new on site restaurants for this winter, one offering Italian classics like pasta and pizza and one offering Asian fusion dining.

If you’re looking for a rustic traditional village with modern lifts and access to the largest ski area in Austria then Mayrhofen is the place for you. Unlike other ski resorts, you’ll find plenty in Mayrhofen – there is long a stretch with bars, restaurants and shops.

Skiing and snowboarding in Mayrhofen

On the famous Zillertal ski area – you’ll have 548km of pistes. Be sure to explore Hintertux glacier – you can’t get enough of the powder skiing and sweeping views. You’re above the clouds here meaning you’ll avoid any of the poor weather further down the mountain.  

Mayrhofen is a heavyweight resort for skiers, boarders and freestylers. If you’re a freestyler you won’t want to miss a chance to practice your tricks one of Europe’s largest snow parks – Penken park. You’ll find it on the sunny side of the Hornberg mountain – split into six separate areas, it even has its own chairlift.

You can also try Austria’s steepest run – the Hara Kiri. If completed you’ll win a ‘I survived Hara Kiri’ t-shirt. There is plenty for beginners too – with learning areas, quality teaching and many blue runs.

Bars and restaurants in Mayrhofen

Before heading down the mountain why not enjoy a drink inside the igloo village – all ages love it here. On your way down you won’t be able to resist a stop off at the lively Pilzbar – you’ll hear the party a mile off.

Once your back in town the fun continues - whether it’s a relaxed cocktail, friendly pub or wild party Mayrhofen has you covered. The night usually begins in the ice bar and ends in the early hours at Brück'n Stadl. You’ll quickly find out why Austrian après ski is famous. If you can’t hold out until dinner we recommend Gasser deli – serving traditional meats, it is the perfect pit stop before après ski.

The Zillertal Superskipass covers four ski areas, including Hochzillertal-Hochfügen-Spieljoch, Zillertal Arena, Mayrhofner Bergbahnen, Ski- & Gletscherwelt Zillertal 3000. It includes the glacier at Hintertux - and 548km of pistes and 180 lifts connected by a free bus or train.

If you pre-book equipment with us, our resort reps will let you know which shop to collect your equipment from.
