Hotel Medil in Campitello is a great choice for your winter break. It's in the centre of the village which has several nice bars. The Col Rodella cable car is only 200 metres away. This cable car links up to the Sellaronda circuit and more than 250 kilometres of lift-linked trails. The beginner's slope here is particularly good if it’s your first time on skis or a board.

Activities

The hotel offers free accompanied ski excursions every day (except Saturday). This is a real bonus and takes you to areas you might not discover on your own. It’s nice to have the option to get to know the fantastic Fassa Valley and surrounding ski area with an expert guide, especially if it’s your first time there.

Alpine hotel

The Medil has a real charm to it, built in a classic Alpine style, it stays true to its Ladin heritage with a wooden exterior, and cosy public areas with genuine South Tyrol hospitality. All of the bedrooms have a really nice feel to them as well, furnished in a classic style with wooden floors and equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay. There's a choice of room types, choose between comfortable standard rooms or upgrade to a spacious suite.

There’s loads here to keep you busy when you’re not out on the slopes.  Relax in the spa, or head to the bar where they play live sporting events, so you can grab a beer and settle in for an evening of sport. There's also live music three nights a week.

Wellness facilities

Take advantage of the lovely spa area after a day on the Dolomiti slopes. Enjoy the indoor swimming pool with hydro jets and jacuzzi, or soak away any aches in the Turkish bath or sauna. If you are wanting to stay active, there is also a well equipped fitness room. For the ultimate treat, book yourself in for a massage with the in house therapists (pay locally).

Where to stay in Val di Fassa

Canazei

As one of the largest villages in the Fassa valley, you won't be short of accommodation to choose from in Canazei. Val di Fassa is famous for Italian hospitality. Delicious restaurants serving local, home-cooked cuisine are in abundance. You can expect a lively après ski scene in and around resort, plus plenty of traditional culture and history in the area. The location couldn't be more perfect as the village is situated just below a forest of snow-covered trees and above that is the towering peaks of the almighty Dolomites. In the centre of the village, the Belvedere gondola is the gateway to the famous Sella circuit.

The closest hamlet just down the road is Alba, sat at the foot of the Marmolada and Sella. Here you will find the Col dei Rossi cable car which links directly onto the Sellaronda, so very convenient for the diehard skier.

Slightly further along the valley is Penia, a small but stunning area which is a suntrap for bluebird days. Between the two areas is the Ciampac 10-seater cable car which at the top has some of the most spectacular views of the Colac area. This is a quiet paradise for intermediate and advanced skiers with runs heading out towards the village of Pozza where you can access the quiet slopes of Rosengarten. Penia has access to the Sellaronda circuit too by the Col di Rossi cable car located between Alba and Penia.

The last village to mention is nestled in the middle of the valley, Campitello, sitting to the west of Canazei, is perfect for those looking for a traditional and more relaxed location with direct access onto the mountain via the Col Rodella cable car.
