They all have a kitchenette and cooking facilities (hob and microwave) so you'll have the choice to eat in or try out some of the local spots - restaurants, bars, and a well-stocked supermarket are just a walk away. And if you'd prefer tasty meals without any fuss, our optional half board upgrade to the nearby Äkäs Hotel (approx. 100 metres), means you can focus all of your attention on days spent exploring Lapland.

You'll be within walking distance of the meet point for many of our pre-bookable excursions and activities and the ski bus stop just outside the Äkäs Hotel. So you can spend your days gliding down the slopes, snowmobiling through the arctic landscape or on a husky or reindeer safari.

Where to stay in Ylläs

With a great selection of accommodation, including an excellent selection of cosy, traditional log cabins - you'll be spoilt for choice here. The resort comprises two Lappish villages set about 15 minutes apart connected by a resort shuttle bus. Äkäslompolo is the main village where we have a choice of hotels, apartments and log cabins, including the lovely Äkäs Apartments. All drivers must be 18yrs+ and bring a full, valid photographic driver's licence with them to the excursion.

Children must be aged 11 years or above and at least 140cm tall to ride as a passenger on a snowmobile, they must be able to touch the footrest when sat on the snowmobile. Children under this height or aged 4-10 years will be towed in a sled or pod behind the guide. It is not possible for infants (aged 0-3 years) to take part in this excursion.

Single riders who have purchased a sharing snowmobile may need to upgrade locally to a single-driving snowmobile, if a shared snowmobile is not available.

Meals

Apartments in the centre of Äkäslompolo within walking distance of the local supermarket. All apartments are equipped with a small kitchenette, giving you the option to dine in or check out the local restaurants in the village.

Guests staying on bed and breakfast will have a buffet-style breakfast in the Äkäs Hotel restaurant, with a choice of hot and cold options.

Optional supplement for half board includes a breakfast buffet and an evening dinner buffet with three courses; the menu features Lappish specialties and locally sourced products. Meals are taken at the Äkäs Hotel which is around 100 metres away from the apartments.

There is an optional credit (approx. €10 adult & €5 child) towards the à la carte menu instead of buffet dinner. Please inform the hotel reception by 6pm the night before.

A New Year's Eve gala dinner is included for guests pre-booking half board.
