Every Tuesday the hotel hosts the Best of Austria Wine Tasting, a celebration of the country's finest vintages. This prebookable experience is hosted by your experienced sommelier Maximillian, son of the hotel owner and winner of Austria's wine sommelier of the year 2023. The tasting features eight wines from the Tyrol region, typically four red and four white wines to try. The tasting also includes AMAX, Maximillian’s own wine which he created with his sister Anna. Book this experience in advance with Inghams, approx. £82 per person.

You can hit the slopes knowing the kids are in safe hands. Child supervision is available Sunday to Friday 9:30am - 4:30pm and 7-8:30pm (from 3 years). The hotel's new children's play area is a great retreat for kids and the ice skating rink opposite the hotel is fun for all the family.

If you’re looking for guaranteed snow, queue-free modern lifts and immaculate slope grooming then Obergurgl is the place for you. Known as the ‘diamond of the alps’, the majority of our hotels are 4 star and above. As a family resort, many of the hotels offer kids activities and are close to the ski school and lifts.

Where to stay in Obergurgl

We have excellent long standing relationships with all of our hotels in Obergurgl so you can rest assured that you will be taken great care of during your stay. The level of service and facilities here are some of the best in Austria, and many hotels have ski-in, ski-out locations.

The best views of the resort can be enjoyed from the Top Mountain Star 360° bar or the Hohe Mut Alm – where you’ll find the spot known as Tirol’s most beautiful mountain ridge. We recommend a winter hike around the stone pine forest – which became a UNESCO natural treasure in 1963. There is a weekly ski-show, night skiing and tobogganing or why not holiday in style with a helicopter ride or champagne gondola lunch.

Bars and restaurants in Obergurgl

With a community of 400 locals working in the traditional pubs, parasol covered bars and rustic mountain huts –expect lederhosen’s, large beer steins and service with a smile. Obergurgl is a small resort meaning you’re never too far from friends or family on the slopes.

No trip to Obergurgl would be complete without a trip to the famous après Nederhütte, located half way up the mountain. Be sure to try the sticky ribs, they’re a specialty that shouldn’t be missed. Once you’ve had a bite to eat. It’s time to party – the house band and staff will be the first to demand you get up on the benches for a good old knees up.
