The small and cosy Hotel Sud Ovest is located at the top of the village, close to the main shopping area. Run by the welcoming Roux family, you'll feel right at home here. 

Family run

The cosy Hotel Sud Ovest is an excellent choice if you are looking for a simplistic hotel in a fantastic ski area. The ski lifts which take you up to the sunny slopes on the Milky Way are around 800 metres away, the local bus stop is very close so you can hop on and not worry about walking too far in ski boots. The experienced Roux family and their team are incredibly welcoming, be sure to ask them about their favourite ski runs - you might find a new favourite. 

Alpine cuisine 

Each morning start your day at the rich continental breakfast buffet including local cured meats, cheeses, homemade sweet treats, fresh fruit and dairy products. Each afternoon you can enjoy complimentary tea and biscuits to keep you going until dinner. There's a great atmosphere for dinner in the cosy restaurant, you can enjoy a choice of three courses from a menu inspired by traditional alpine cuisine. There's an extensive a la carte wine list with wines recommended by a sommelier, so you can try out some local and international labels. Stop by the bar for a digestif before heading to bed.

A purpose built resort that was constructed in the 1930s (and extended again in 2006 to host the Turin Winter Olympics) Sestriere has a modern and trendy feel to it, with a lively après ski crowd that congregates in the popular bars and pubs around the town when the lifts close.

Sitting at the very heart of The Milky Way ski area in Italy, Sestriere and nearby Borgata are the perfect home base for those of us who truly love the mountains. Whether you’re a complete beginner, or a seasoned expert, The Milky Way ski area truly has something for us all. With more than 400 kilometres of pistes to explore, there is plenty of skiing and snowboarding to be had in Sestriere and beyond, joining with Sauze d’Oulx, Claviere and Montgenèvre over the border in France.

Where to stay in Sestriere

We have 4 hotels across Sestriere, offering a variety of facilities to suit all needs. All offered on a half board basis, you will benefit from having breakfast and dinner included with your stay. Some of our favourites include the Grand Hotel Sestriere, which has a central location, providing easy access to the resort amenities, and a cosy bar with a fantastic wine list - perfect for ending a day on the slopes. The Hotel Savoy Edelweiss is also a great choice and is known for it's extremely friendly staff and hearty meals that are sure to keep you refuelled throughout your holiday.

Bars and restaurants in Sestriere

Sestriere offers a great selection of restaurants and bars. Predominantly Italian and Piedmont cuisine, this area is known for its wines and Prosecco, as well as cheese, meat and freshly made bread and pasta. Sestriere is a lively location on the après front and is also home to the Tabata night club, which claims to be one of the biggest and the best that the Alps has to offer!

Tuition information

  • Tuition will be available from 22nd Dec 24 onward 
  • Ski & snowboard tuition runs Monday - Friday 10am - 12:50pm 
  • Group tuition need a minimum number of guests to take place. Very occasionally these numbers aren’t reached. If you have pre-booked tuition and this happens, the ski-school will do their best to offer private tuition to the value of what you had originally booked.

Levels of tuition:

  • Beginner - never skied before
  • Level 1 - advanced beginner; can control speed, snowplough and change direction on gentle slopes 
  • Level 2 - low intermediate, snowplough turns and start to ski parallel
  • Level 3 - good intermediate, parallel turns 
  • Advanced - fully confident on all slopes, looking to improve technique

A continental buffet breakfast is available each morning. You can speak with the hotel on arrival about a hot breakfast (payable locally).

There's also a weekly traditional gala dinner where you'll get to try local specialities.
