Hotel Col Alto is one of our favourite hotels in the Dolomites. There’s plenty going on in the village and you can walk to bars, shops and restaurants. It might be hard to tear yourself away from the hotel though. We love its modern alpine style.

Hotel shuttle

The location couldn’t be better in central Corvara and just 400 metres from the Boe gondola. It's the best place if you want to head straight out and get onto the brilliant Sellaronda circuit.

If you don't fancy carrying your skis, the hotel runs a shuttle to and from the slopes every morning and afternoon.

Lounge & bar

The Iceberg Lounge Bar is the perfect place to grab a drink and catch up with friends before or after dinner - be sure to try one of the creative cocktails on offer. After a day of snowy adventures, the bar is also the perfect place to enjoy a warming hot chocolate in front of the fireplace.

The food at the hotel is also delicious. Expect traditional South Tyrolean dishes with a modern twist. They go to great lengths to make sure the ingredients used are local so everything tastes fresh and authentic.

Indoor pool

When it comes to relaxing, the Col Alto has you covered. The wellness centre is the perfect space to spend a few hours relaxing, enjoy a dip in the indoor pool with waterfall, soothe any aches in the whirlpool, or choose from the five saunas and steam baths for ultimate relaxation. When the sun is out, there is no better place to put your feet up and relax than the solarium, with comfortable loungers and large windows with mountain views - it is a great spot after a busy day exploring the Dolomites. If you want to completely unwind, why not book a massage or treatment for a little extra fee.

Why is this an Inghams' Choice property?

Central location - With an excellent location in the centre of Corvara and a hotel shuttle to the lifts, you couldn't be better placed to explore the Dolomites.

Food & drink - You will find locally sourced dishes at the Hotel Col Alto which showcase some of the best product from the Southern Tyrol region.

Wellness area - There is nowhere better to be than relaxing in the wellness facilities after a day on the slopes including an indoor pool with waterfall, whirlpool and multiple saunas.

Corvara & Colfosco

  • Resort altitude of 1,568 metres
  • Skiing up to 2,750 metres
  • 1200 kilometres of slopes in the Dolomiti Ski Area

Corvara and Colfosco are delightful villages nestled in the Alta Badia region of the Dolomites and have been enjoyed by British skiers for many years.

Skiing and snowboarding in Corvara & Colfosco

Ideally located on the Sellaronda circuit, both areas have easy access to the main slopes including connections to Arabba, Selva, Val di Fassa and the exhilarating Marmolada glacier. The local ski areas of La Villa and San Cassiano also boast superb skiing amidst inspiring scenery.

Apart from the Sellaronda, the best local skiing is “up the road” at Corvara, taking in the excellent “local” slopes of La Villa and San Cassiano. Both villages also have access to the ski areas of Arabba, Selva, Val di Fassa and the iconic Marmolada glacier. Colfosco is the final destination for one of the great off-piste descents in the Dolomites – the Val Mezdi (Mid-day Valley).  But do take a guide and be prepared to turn back if the steep start of the run puts you off!  It quickly levels out, and by the time you have reached Colfosco, you’ll have descended well over 1,200 vertical metres (almost 4,000 feet) – and skied one of Italy’s classic runs.

Where to stay in Corvara & Colfosco

The majority of our properties are offered on a half board basis with breakfast and dinner included with your stay. They are all located within walking distance of the ski lifts, so you'll have easy access to the ski area. Hotel Col Alto in Corvara is a lovely 4.5-star hotel located in the centre of resort, providing quick access to the local restaurants, shops and bars. Hotel Mezdi in Colfosco has some fantastic spa facilities including an outdoor heated swimming pool where you can take in the views of the snowy mountain peaks. Sporthotel Panorama in Corvara is ski-in, ski-out so getting on your skis as early as possible couldn't be easier.

Bars and restaurants in Corvara & Colfosco

Corvara (1,568 metres) at the foot of the dramatic Mt.Sassongher and two mountain passes - the Passo Gardena and Passo Campolongo - offers a range of boutique shops and cafes, and some great après-ski bars such as the 'El Murin' which you can ski back to and dance there in your ski boots. Colfosco is a pretty village next door to Corvara, which shares the same welcoming atmosphere. This delightful village in the Alta Badia region of the stunning Dolomites, with its Gothic church, maybe smaller and quieter than Corvara, but it has a distinct charm of its own and some good hotels and restaurants.
