One of the Dolomites best hotels, the Adler Spa Resort Dolomiti is the perfect choice for your next Italian ski holiday. Dating back to the 1800s, the property retains its charm whilst offering a luxurious alpine retreat for its guests. The team here will do all they can to make your stay memorable. The Seceda lift's only 200 metres away so you have easy access to the slopes and if you're not up for walking then you can also hop on the free resort bus.

Soothing spa

After a busy day skiing, make time to visit the state-of-the-art spa which has plenty of great facilities. Float around in the indoor pool or unwind in the steam rooms or newly renovated saunas. Soak up the mountain views in the outdoor heated pool and if you really want to treat yourself, book in for one of their award-winning treatments (payable locally). There's lots to keep the whole family entertained here - children can play board games, video games and even watch films at the AKI kids club.

Food and drink

The meals at the Adler are fantastic, a lot of effort goes into sourcing seasonal and regional ingredients to create a menu which includes hearty South Tyrolean Alpine dishes and Italian-Mediterranean cuisine.

Each morning you can fuel up for the day at the varied breakfast buffet which includes sweet and savoury options. When you return from a day on the slopes, head to the cocktail bar and a handcrafted cocktail or a glass of wine. There's live music a few times a week too.

Ortisei

  • Resort altitude of 1236 metres
  • 181 kilometres of slopes in the Val Gardena
  • 1200 kilometres of slopes in the Dolomiti Ski Area
  • Skiing to 3,269 metres

Ortisei (AKA St Ulrich), the picturesque old community and cultural centre of Val Gardena, can all too easily be overlooked by skiers based in Selva – especially those intent on ticking off as many resorts as they can on the celebrated Sellaronda tour. But they’re missing out on an intriguing and delightful location, packed with fascinating architecture, often with ornate woodcarvings, as well as pretty churches, a charming pedestrian precinct, high-quality shops and good restaurants. They usually speak pretty good English which may be just as well as the main language here is Ladin – an intriguing mix of Latin and a regional Romansch dialect!

Skiing and snowboarding in Ortisei

Ortisei’s main ski area is at Alpe di Siusi – a wonderfully scenic area with a good network of lifts in the Punta d’Oro area, serving early intermediates. There are also gondola and funicular links with the Seceda area which itself links with St Christina and onwards to the extensive Selva lift network which includes Dantercepies, Ciampinoi, Plan De Gralba and Passo Sella. From Selva you also have access to the renowned Sella Ronda ski circuit, a 27km route around the incredible Gruppo Sella massif.

Where to stay in Ortisei

We offer a selection of hotels in Ortisei, both located in the centre of the pretty chocolate box style village. Choose from the beautiful Adler Spa Resort with its extensive spa facilities or the delightful family run Hotel Dolomiti Madonna.

Bars and restaurants in Ortisei

Italy is known for its great food and drink, and staying in Ortisei is no different. There are a variety of restaurants in town serving traditional Ladino food - hearty Alpine dishes such as Kaiserschmarrn and Spätzle. When aperitivo time rolls around try the Tyrolean Speck, a form of smoked prosciutto with the Schüttelbrot a crispbread from the region.

Whether you're in the mood for a casual aperitif, a cocktail or warming hot chocolate, the pretty high-street has plenty of options. Up on the mountain, warm and welcoming mountain huts and chic alpine lodges serve up hearty local dishes alongside stunning views of the Dolomiti mountains.
