Cosy accommodation

The Mignon ticks all the boxes for a winter retreat, warm wood and cosy furnishings are seen throughout the hotel and bright, spacious bedrooms with views of the surrounding Dolomiti mountains are perfect for your stay in Selva.

When it's time to hit the pillow retreat to your comfortable alpine style bedroom, if you are bringing the family, the larger superior rooms are great for sharing with the children.

The hotel has a traditional feel and plenty of facilities to occupy your week. We love the state of the art spa - the massage jets in the indoor pool are perfect after a day skiing.

Close to the lifts

The hotel is situated on the edge of town, so getting onto the slopes couldn't be easier - the Ciampinoi gondola is only a five-minute walk away and there's a free shuttle that'll take you there in the mornings. The centre of Selva is within walking distance too, where you can find various shops, cosy cafes and bars.

Food and drink

You'll get a more refined dinner experience here. Meals are prepared with regional ingredients, and the menu features specialities from the Mediterranean and the South Tyrol.

Get ready for a day of adventures, and enjoy the delicious breakfast buffet with homemade mountain honey, croissants, cold meats and cheeses, juices and fresh fruits.

Tasty evening meals are served in the chic restaurant, the daily menu includes fresh salads and appetizers, gourmet delicacies and delectable desserts. Pair your meal with a nice bottle from their cellar for a perfect evening - their team with help you select a wine for every occasion.

Inspired by the ancient Roman baths, the lovely wellness area and pool is worth a visit. Relax in the indoor pool with massage jets, sit back and relax in the Finnish sauna and for a moment of peace enjoy the quietness in the La Piazza relaxation area.

Skiing and snowboarding in Selva

If you have a Dolomiti Superski lift pass you have access to twelve different ski areas and over 1200 kilometres of slopes. Each day is a new adventure, explore the local area of the Val Gardena, venture towards the surrounding areas of Alta Badia, Val di Fassa and Arabba on the Sella Ronda ski circuit or venture to the highest point in the Dolomites, the Marmolada Glacier. Whether you are just starting out or have been skiing for years, there truly a piste for everyone in Selva.

Where to stay in Selva

We offer a range of accommodation in Selva, all with great access to the extensive Dolomiti Ski Area, you're spoilt for choice. 

The Chalet Soldanella offers an authentic chalet experience in a great location. The resort centre and slopes are just a short walk from the chalet, and you can enjoy six days of catering and tasty afternoon treats when you return from a day on the slopes. 

Hotel Mignon is a lovely family run hotel on the edge of town, there's a free shuttle service which runs between the lifts, so getting onto the mountain couldn't be easier. 

If you want to be the first and last on the slopes, the Hotel Somont or the Hotel Pozzamanigoni both have ski in, ski out access. 

Bars and restaurants in Selva

There are plenty of cafes and restaurants in Selva serving tasty Tyrolean specialities, as well as classic Italian cuisine.  When you get onto the slopes, you can find a cosy mountain hut on almost every slope, many of them are also serving tasty Tyrolean dishes, but you can also find pizzas, pastas, fish specialities and grilled meats. Be sure to stop for a warming Bombardino or hot chocolate on your way back to resort - the Panorama Hut on the Dantercepies slope is a fantastic spot to watch the sun set over the Dolomiti peaks. 

If you are looking for a spot for some après-ski, there are a few options to choose from. Luiskeller is one of the best known après-ski bars in the Val Gardena, and everyone who has visited Selva has probably partied in the basement bar at least once. Leave your skis at the nearby ski depot and dance the night away.  If you are looking for somewhere with a more relaxed vibe, La Stua has a fantastic location at the foot of the slopes. Many of the other bars in resort have a more relaxed vibe, where you can enjoy a beer or an Aperol Spritz with friends and family.

Featuring a linked ski area of 1220km on one lift pass, the Dolomite Superski Pass is worth every penny. Walker's pass available & purchased locally. Children born after 01/01/2016 can collect a free ski pass in resort. Proof of age will be required.

  • Guests staying at the Chalet Soldanella tuition may differ to website, please call to confirm duration and prices.
  • Adult ski tuition runs Sunday - Thursday 10am - 1pm, Friday 10am - 4pm
  • Child ski tuition runs Sunday to Wednesday 10am-1pm, Thursday & Friday 10am - 4pm (lunch is included on Thursday & Friday)
  • Group tuition need a minimum number of guests to take place. Very occasionally these numbers aren’t reached. If you have pre-booked tuition and this happens, the ski-school will do their best to offer private tuition to the value of what you had originally booked.

Levels of tuition:

  • Beginner - never skied before
  • Level 1 - advanced beginner; can control speed, snowplough and change direction on gentle slopes 
  • Level 2 - low intermediate, snowplough turns and start to ski parallel

Meals

The food is really something to look forward to when you stay here. The breakfast buffet has plenty of choice and some nice, healthy options to get your energy up for a day on the mountains. Help yourself to homemade mountain honey, local yogurt and regional, organic product including eggs and milk - save some room for the homemade pastries, too!

You'll get a choice every evening for dinner when you'll tuck into four courses. There's a mix of international and South Tyrolean dishes as well as a salad and antipasti buffet. Once a week there's a themed dinner with local specialties. The Mignon is perfect if you want a more refined dinner experience in a spacious dining room.

After dinner, head to the bar for a nightcap. Relax in front of the fire and enjoy the mountain views.

Christmas and New Year's Eve gala dinners are included.
