The Hotel Chalet du Lys is right at the bottom of the Sant'Anna ski slope against a stunning back drop of the Monte Rosa Massif mountain range. It's a fantastic family friendly hotel with a playroom and games to keep the children busy. The décor is a cosy Alpine style and the daily live pianist adds to the hotels lovely ambiance.

Close to the slopes

The cosy Chalet du Lys benefits from being at the foot of the Sant Anna ski slopes in the Stafal area of Gressoney, you can easily start and end or your day. The lifts are only 150 metres away, and you can ski back to the hotel on your return. The quaint village of Gressoney is a short bus ride away, or you can venture down on the winding red run down into the village.

Bar and spa

When you're hungry, the hotel's got a great reputation for its typical Italian food in La Grange, and on Monday evenings, be sure to head down a little earlier to enjoy an aperitivo, the perfect way to end the day. Those of you who like a little après, head to the Irish pub next door ' Gorodns Pub'- it couldn't be more convenient - plus on Friday evenings there is often live music.

After a day on the slopes, there is nowhere better to unwind than in the Lys Spa - it really is the perfect antidote to any achy ski legs. Enjoy the Turkish bath, sauna, salt room and chromotherapy showers, before relaxing in the relaxation area with a herbal tea. For an additional fee, treat yourself to a massage with one of the therapists. You can also make the most of the heated outdoor pool and take in the stunning views of the glacier.

Gressoney

  • Resort altitude of 1,640 metres
  • 180 kilometres of skiable terrain
  • Skiing to 3,550 metres

Nestled in the centre of the Monterosa ski area, one of the largest and unspoilt ski areas in Italy, you will find the beautiful resort of Gressoney. If you are looking for a traditional village with cobbled streets, full of history dating back to World War 2 and a ski area known for good challenging pistes, massive off-piste potential and 28 peaks over 4000 metres, this is where you want to be.

Skiing and snowboarding in Gressoney

Dubbed by many as Europe’s best kept secret, the Monterosa ski area is simply stunning. The pistes are immaculate, probably something to do with the fact they are not overcrowded and majority of the people who do head here are at a good level of skiing. Around Gressoney you can enjoy some woodland skiing before heading further afield either towards Colle Bettaforca and over the peak towards Champoluc, the largest of the 7 towns in the area. More experienced skiers and boarders will love the slopes over towards Alagna, specifically those looking for powder can head up the Punta Indren lift which takes enthusiasts to an area dedicated to off-piste. We recommend a guide and ensuring you have the right equipment for the job. There’s also excellent cross-country skiing in both villages, with more than 20 miles of tracks for you to explore.
