Alpine hotel

The hotel has a real Alpine feel to it, with warm wood and traditional touches. There are 35 unique rooms, each with cosy mountain decor and modern conveniences, with rooms sleeping up to four, this is an excellent choice for your next family ski holiday. After a day of adventures, we love chilling out by the open fire in the warm and welcoming lounge-bar area.

Food and drink

After building up an appetite all day, dinners at the hotel are something to look forward to. The restaurant serves fantastic Italian food, including traditional dishes from the Valle d'Aosta. Many of the products used are locally sourced, including a variety of jams, chestnuts, compotes which come from the family's artisan business, Alpenzu.  The Hotel Lo Scoiattolo has a vegetable garden 'KM0', this includes various seasonal ingredients including chard, zucchini, green beans, leeks, cabbage, celery and carrots, herbs and potatoes: all products that the kitchen team use to prepare delicious dishes. The products are freshly picked and are not treated, retaining their fragrance and flavor.

Before retreating to bed, head to the bar for a nightcap - embrace gressonara traditions and try a grappa or Genepy. You can also enjoy a glass of wine from the well stocked Winery which includes typical products from the Aosta Valley

Soothe any aches and pains in the jacuzzi, unwind in the sauna or Turkish bath, and enjoy resting in the relaxation area with a herbal tea. For a little extra treat, massages and wellness treatments are available for an additional fee.

Gressoney

  • Resort altitude of 1,640 metres
  • 180 kilometres of skiable terrain
  • Skiing to 3,550 metres

Nestled in the centre of the Monterosa ski area, one of the largest and unspoilt ski areas in Italy, you will find the beautiful resort of Gressoney. If you are looking for a traditional village with cobbled streets, full of history dating back to World War 2 and a ski area known for good challenging pistes, massive off-piste potential and 28 peaks over 4000 metres, this is where you want to be.

Skiing and snowboarding in Gressoney

Dubbed by many as Europe’s best kept secret, the Monterosa ski area is simply stunning. The pistes are immaculate, probably something to do with the fact they are not overcrowded and majority of the people who do head here are at a good level of skiing. Around Gressoney you can enjoy some woodland skiing before heading further afield either towards Colle Bettaforca and over the peak towards Champoluc, the largest of the 7 towns in the area. More experienced skiers and boarders will love the slopes over towards Alagna, specifically those looking for powder can head up the Punta Indren lift which takes enthusiasts to an area dedicated to off-piste. We recommend a guide and ensuring you have the right equipment for the job. There’s also excellent cross-country skiing in both villages, with more than 20 miles of tracks for you to explore.
